The Governor of the Central Bank meets with European Union ambassadors to our country

He met with the Governor of the Central Bank, A. Ahmed Ghalib, this morning, Tuesday, November 28, 2023 AD, at the Central Bank building in the capital, Aden, European Union Ambassadors, headed by Mr. Gabriel Munwira, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Yemen.
The governor briefed the ambassadors on the latest developments in the financial and economic fields in the Republic of Yemen in light of the difficult conditions the country is experiencing due to the cessation of oil and gas exports and the loss of large resources from taxes and customs, with increasing commitments to meet citizens’ living and service requirements.
The governor also touched on the reforms implemented by the Central Bank with the support of our brothers, friends, and international organizations, and the difficulties and pressures the bank faces as a result of the scarcity of internal resources and the accumulation of obligations.
Praising the importance of the support provided by the European Union to our country in the field of technical support, capacity building, and its constant follow-up of the situation, he thanked the ambassadors for their support and assistance to the bank so that it can exercise its functions to maintain stability, hoping that they will have a greater role in mobilizing resources from all sources to help Yemen. In order to be able to overcome difficult and exceptional situations.
For their part, the ambassadors expressed their happiness at this meeting and stressed their continued support for the Central Bank, enabling it to carry out its vital functions to serve the Yemeni economy and the Yemeni citizens with all independence and professionalism, away from any interference in its affairs or disruption of its work.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Muhammad Banaja, Deputy Governor, Hussein Al-Quaiti, Undersecretary for Foreign Banking Operations, and Mansour Rajeh, Undersecretary of the Banking Supervision Sector. On the European side, the Ambassadors of France, Germany, and the Netherlands, and the Deputy Ambassador of the European Union for Economic Affairs.
