The US Central Command announced 4 attacks against separate commercial ships in the Red Sea and confirmed that during its response to distress calls from those ships, a US destroyer shot down drones belonging to the Iranian-backed Houthi militia that were heading in their direction.

She confirmed that it is not clear whether the destroyer "Karney" was a target for drones, explaining that the ships are linked to 14 countries.

She pointed to the responsibility of the Iranian-backed militia for launching the attacks, stressing, “The United States will consider all appropriate responses in full coordination with its allies and international partners.”
