The Ministry of Defense is examining the possibility of Egyptian support to confront Houthi threats in international waters

Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Yemeni Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Saghir bin Aziz, discussed today, Wednesday, with the Commander of the Egyptian Naval Forces, Admiral Staff Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa, in Cairo, the strengthening of military cooperation and maritime security.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Yemeni Air Force and Air Defense, Major General Pilot Abdul Rahman Al-Wazari, and the Deputy Head of the Training and Qualification Authority of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, Major General Ahmed Al-Absi.
The meeting discussed a number of issues and topics of common interest, ways to develop military cooperation relations, transfer and exchange of experiences, and mechanisms for coordinating efforts to confront national challenges, in a way that contributes to raising the capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces to carry out their national and Arab duties.
The Yemeni Chief of Staff stressed the importance of strengthening military cooperation between the two countries, and expressed his aspiration for more Egyptian support for the Yemeni armed forces in the field of training, qualification and transfer of expertise, to enhance the readiness and efficiency of the naval and air forces.
For his part, the Commander of the Egyptian Naval Forces stressed the importance of military cooperation with Yemen, and the readiness of the Egyptian Armed Forces to provide full support to Yemen in the field of training, qualification and transfer of expertise, which contributes to enhancing the capabilities of the Yemeni Armed Forces to carry out their national duties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to form a joint committee from both sides to study ways to enhance military cooperation and determine areas of cooperation, activities and executive programs.
