Salem Al-Walidi, Director General of Aden Capital Electricity, announced today, Friday, that all power stations in Aden will be out of service from next Sunday, December 11, 2023.

Al-Walidi said in a post on his page on the social networking site “Facebook”: “The governor was contacted and a response was given to us. This is within the jurisdiction of the ministry. The brother, the Minister of Electricity, was contacted and he said, ‘Contact the Prime Minister.’”

He added: “We announce our apologies to all of you, people of Aden, and may God bless you, people of Aden.”

This announcement caused a state of anger and resentment among citizens in Aden, as they considered it a new crisis added to the crises that the city is suffering from.

Residents called on the concerned authorities to intervene urgently to resolve this crisis, and to restart power plants as quickly as possible.
