3,797 mines, shells and explosive devices were removed from the territory of Yemen during the past month

The “Masam” mine clearance project in Yemen announced the removal of 3,797 mines, unexploded shells, and explosive devices in various Yemeni regions during the month of last November.
Assistant Director General of the Masam Project, Qasim Al-Dosari, said - according to Yemen Satellite Channel - that during last November, 3,164 unexploded ordnance, 559 anti-tank mines, 53 anti-personnel mines, and 21 explosive devices were removed.
Al-Dosari added that - according to the monthly report issued by the project’s media center - the total cleared area during the same month amounted to 1,156,407 meters of Yemeni territory, indicating that the project destroyed 2,002 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices during November, and that As part of the project’s tireless effort to save innocent lives from camouflaged explosive devices.
He confirmed that the project team carried out the destruction of 1,582 mines, explosive devices, and an unexploded shell in Bab al-Mandab, Taiz Governorate, last November. In the same month, the project also carried out the destruction and detonation of 420 mines, unexploded shells, and an explosive device in Ain District, Shabwa Governorate. .
Al-Dosari stressed that the destruction process that was carried out was carried out in accordance with international standards followed in the destruction of mines and war remnants, where a safe location far from the population is chosen, after coordination with the relevant authorities, noting that the mines and explosive devices that were destroyed in the context, It was planted in vital areas, such as villages, farms, roads, schools, etc., and it posed a direct threat to the lives of civilians, killing many of them.
It is noteworthy that the total number of mines that have been cleared since the launch of the “Masam” project at the end of June 2018 until now has reached 423,794 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, planted by the Houthi militia randomly in various Yemeni governorates, while the total area reached 52 million and 44 thousand and 191 square meters have been disinfected, since the launch of the project until today.
