A French frigate announces the shooting down of two drones in the Red Sea

A French frigate shot down two drones in the Red Sea that were heading towards it from the coast of Yemen, according to what the French Armed Forces Chief of Staff announced on Sunday.
The authority said in a statement that the multi-tasking frigate “Languedoc” operating in the Red Sea “intercepted and destroyed these two threats” on Saturday night and Sunday.
The authority added that the two drones were launched from an area controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, near the coastal city of Hodeidah.
She explained that they were intercepted about 110 kilometers from the coast, according to the Navy.
She indicated that the first drone was launched on the ship at around 11:30 pm Yemen time, while the second drone was launched at 01:30 after midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
The Languedoc has been deployed in the Indian Ocean since August, and recently accompanied the US aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, which crossed the Strait of Hormuz into the Arabian Gulf, according to what Centcom announced last November.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Houthis threatened to attack any ship heading towards ports in Israel, through the Gulf of Aden, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Red Sea, regardless of which country the ship belongs to.
