Japan provides $3 million to encourage the peace process in Yemen

The Government of Japan approved the provision of new aid to Yemen amounting to $3 million from its supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2023 in order to encourage the peace process and humanitarian response in Yemen.
An official statement said, “Two million dollars will be used for the peace support project, which is an initiative led by the Office of the United Nations Envoy to Yemen, with the aim of achieving a political settlement that ends the war.”
The remaining amount will be allocated to support the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism managed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNPS), which contributes to facilitating the unhindered flow of commercial goods to Yemen.
