Governor Al-Thaqali inspects the progress of work in the rehabilitation project of the Hamhail Road and Aqaba, east of Socotra

Socotra Governor, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, inspected the progress of work in the project to rehabilitate the road and obstacle in the Hamhail area, east of Socotra, with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work.
During his inspection visit, Governor Al-Thaqali met with the sheikh and people of the Hamhail region, and was briefed on their situation and learned about their priority requirements.
Al-Thaqali stressed that the process of rehabilitating the road in the Hamhail areas is of great importance in facilitating the passage of vehicles to the area, and that it relieves the citizens’ suffering in transportation and bringing their needs, and provides a great opportunity for tourists to reach the area, which is one of the important sites for eco-tourism that brings benefits to the local community.
Al-Thaqali pointed out that the process of rehabilitating it and expanding Aqaba reduces its damage, contributes to securing the movement of vehicles, and allows more than one vehicle to pass at the same time.
Al-Thaqali praised the efforts of the brothers in the United Arab Emirates for their generous support in opening damaged roads and rehabilitating dangerous roads at the governorate level, and that the people are suffering in transportation.
For their part, Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Hamalawi, the identifier of the Hamhail regions, appreciated the great role of Governor Raafat Al-Thaqli in coordinating with the brothers in the UAE and his interest in quickly implementing the road rehabilitation, and this is the dilemma facing the people of the region.
The Hamhail area is considered one of the environmental areas in the governorate, which is characterized by a distinctive atmosphere, rare trees, and a natural water pool overlooking the Arabian Sea, and is visited by thousands of visitors annually.
The Governor was accompanied on his visit by the Director General of the Public Works and Roads Office, Mr. Abdul Salam Al-Jumahi.
