In Yemen alone, a government institution pays more than 50 million riyals per month in the bills of its senior officials

The management of the Aden Refineries Company decided to stop paying the electricity, water, and telephone bills that were paid to cover the consumption of its senior employees.
The monthly amount for payment amounts to more than 50 million riyals, according to sources working at the refinery.
A source working at the refinery said The refinery said that the step was taken by the current director, Engineer Ahmed Massad, with the aim of reducing the refinery’s expenses.
In a message sent by Massad to the beneficiaries of these services, he said that they would stop starting in February 2024.
The message stated: “ As a result of the difficult financial circumstances that are going on It has the refinery, and based on the observations of the Central Agency for Control and Accounting, Aden, and Circular No. (31) of 1998 regarding not charging the state treasury the expenses of water and electricity consumption for leaders, administrators, and workers, the payment of electricity, water, and landline telephone bills will be suspended for all current and retired employees, as well as managers. The former and current ones, including the CEO, his deputy, the refinery director, and all members of the Board of Directors, without excluding anyone, and it will be implemented starting in February 2024.
