A presidential committee, in coordination with the leadership of the local authority in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of Lahj and Abyan, began arrangements to establish special centers to house and receive illegal immigrants coming from the Horn of Africa.
This step comes in coordination with the International Organization for Migration. It was agreed that the organization would establish a shelter center and 5 reception centers for illegal immigrants coming from African countries outside the capital, Aden, in the areas of: “Ras Amran, Shaqra, Khor Amira, and Ahwar.”
The advisor to the governor of the capital, Aden, and head of the Office for Coordination and Facilitation of Port Movements, Advisor Ahmed Abdullah Al-Wali, explained that a committee had been formed to work on establishing a shelter center and five centers to receive illegal immigrants outside the capital, Aden, noting that it had been agreed to determine The shelter site, within a maximum period of two weeks.
The governor indicated that the process of removing illegal immigrants from the capital, Aden, had begun. The first batch, including 59 Ethiopian immigrants, was deported through Aden International Airport. Pointing out that there are higher directives not to allow any new immigrants to enter the capital, Aden.
The local official in Aden denied the validity of the allegations and false information conveyed by the International Organization for Migration regarding arrests and arbitrary actions against illegal immigrants in the capital during the past days. He explained that the local authority in the capital, Aden, agreed with the same international organization that brought charges against the security services on a specific mechanism that would return illegal immigrants to their homes.
The security services in Aden intervened a few days ago to break up violent clashes that broke out between two factions of African immigrants after the confrontations expanded in a number of districts. The security services - according to the head of the Office for Coordination and Facilitation of Port Movements, Ahmed Al-Wali - dealt with the incident with absolute responsibility, in accordance with human rights principles, and their keenness to protect civilians who were harmed by these internal confrontations among illegal immigrants.
