The Houthi militia - Iran's arm in Yemen, continues its acquisitions and plundering of private companies in areas under its control, after bringing charges against their owners to justify the confiscation process.
The latest company to be bulldozed by the Houthis is “Yemen Digital Media”, which is a specialized company that provides special media services to many satellite channels, and is owned by Taha Al-Maamari.
The Houthi militias seized the company and its activities on April 18, 2021, and the company remained under seizure by the Houthi leaders under the justification of judicial directives against the company.
During the past few days, powerful Houthi forces stormed the company building and confiscated all official and important papers, including the company seal, the commercial registry, ownership of the company’s land, and the home of its owner.
The owner of the company published a statement on his Facebook page in which he explained that the pro-Houthi leaders, “Sam Muhammad Abdul Khaleq Al-Qadi” and “Mukhtar Muhammad Ali Al-Sharafi,” confiscated the “Yemen Digital Media” company, and looted the company’s seal, the commercial registry, and the company’s official papers. And the insight of the land and the insight of the house that are specific to him.
Taha Al-Maamari disclaimed any responsibility for any financial transactions or commercial transactions in his name or under the name of his company, which were completely confiscated by judicial custody. Pointing out that the confiscation even included the ownership papers of his house and lands he owned in Sanaa.
The Houthi militias are exploiting their control over the judiciary to issue unfair rulings against private companies with the aim of seizing and confiscating them. The militias level malicious accusations against the owners of these companies, up to the point of death penalty, as happened recently with the owner of Prodigy Systems, Adnan Al-Harazi, after his company was controlled and its financial assets were completely seized.
