The Minister of State and Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, met today, Sunday, with the Minister of Local Administration, Hussein Abdul Rahman Al-Aghbari, at the office of the local authority, at the beginning of the field visits carried out by the Ministry to the liberated governorates, to review the progress of the work of the local authorities, and to identify the difficulties facing You face it.
At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by a number of undersecretaries and general directors of the governorate’s office offices, Lamlas welcomed the Minister of Local Administration and his entourage, expressing his pride that the ministry would launch its field trips from the local authority’s office in the capital, Aden.
Lamlas pointed out that the local authority in the capital, Aden, has been keen to develop the level of administrative work and raise revenues since it took over the reins in the capital, Aden, three years ago. He also looked forward to cooperation in addressing and reconsidering the old local fee bases.
Lamlas added: “Every governorate has its own characteristics, and Aden must be managed in a developmental and investment manner, and not in a traditional, stereotypical manner,” pointing out that the Revenue Development Center, which was launched in mid-2023, is still in the establishment stage, and work on it will be strengthened during the year. Next year 2024, to carry out its role as required and in accordance with the strategic plan of the local authority.
During the meeting, Lamlas reviewed a number of issues for which the authority seeks to find solutions and treatments, the most important of which are the operational budgets of the executive offices, in addition to building a special government complex for the governorate, similar to the rest of the governorates.
For his part, Minister Al-Aghbari expressed his pleasure that the Ministry would launch its visits from the office of the local authority in the capital, Aden, noting that the field visit program for the local administration aims to review the work progress of the local authorities, and provide correct suggestions and solutions to shortcomings at the local level. Al-Aghbari pointed out that the application of decentralization gave the local authorities administrative, financial, and security powers, and the role of the ministries became limited to the supervisory aspect, praising in this context the efforts of the governor of the capital, Aden, and the directors of directorates in various fields, in light of the great service pressure they face.
Al-Aghbari praised the idea of establishing the Revenue Development Center, stressing that it is one of the great achievements in which Aden will have ownership rights and a head start, and that Farid’s experience should be generalized to all governorates.
