Destroying more than 47 thousand mines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance in Yemen during the year 2023

The Director General of the Masam Project to clear Yemeni lands of mines - Osama Al-Gosaibi, said: “The operations to destroy mines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance carried out by the Masam Project during the year 2023 in all the areas covered by the project’s headquarters in Marib and Aden have achieved pioneering results. This is reflected in the documented demolition and destruction numbers related to these operations in those areas.”
Algosaibi stated that the total number of destruction operations in 2023 reached 59 operations, during which the project was able to destroy 47,204 explosive objects, including 677 anti-personnel mines, 7,674 anti-tank mines, 38,504 unexploded ordnance, and 349 explosive devices.
The director of Masam pointed out that the destruction operations carried out by the project on the West Coast amounted to 52 operations, during which 36,647 materials were disposed of, including 566 anti-personnel mines, 5,928 anti-tank mines, 29,857 unexploded ordnance, and 296 explosive devices.
He also explained that the destruction operations carried out by Masam’s teams in the areas under the supervision of the Marib headquarters amounted to 7 operations, resulting in the destruction of 10,557 materials, including 111 anti-personnel mines, 1,746 anti-tank mines, 8,647 unexploded ordnance, and 53 explosive devices.
