The Governor of Abyan and a member of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, Al-Gharib, inspect the Hassan Dam project
Commissioned by the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Command Council, Commander of the Southern Giants Brigades: Abdul Rahman Abu Zara’a Al-Muharami, visited this morning the Governor of Abyan Governorate, Major General: Abu Bakr Hussein, and a member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council: Ali Haitham Al-Gharib, and the project follow-up and monitoring team in Office of the Representative Al-Muharrami, Wadi Hassan Strategic Dam Project in Abyan Governorate.
They heard from the project manager and engineers an explanation of the ongoing work and project components. They explained that the project basin has an area of more than two and a half kilometres, and can store about 20 million cubic meters of water at a depth of 20 metres. The project consists of several dams, canals and bridges along the area of Wadi Hassan, stressing that work is underway and an earthen barrier has been created to pass the water away. About the work site, noting that there are difficulties and obstacles facing the work, including: work being stopped by people who claim ownership of some of the lands located in the project basin.
They met with a number of citizens, residents of the valley basin and landowners located in the dam basin who were affected by the project, and listened to their demands, which centered on paying them compensation for their homes and lands located in the area of the dam project basin, stressing their support for the leadership of the local authority in the governorate. For the success of this important project.
During the visit, Representative Al-Muharrami made a phone call and listened to a detailed explanation from the Governor of the Governorate, Major General: Abu Bakr Hussein, a member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council: Ali Haitham Al-Gharib, and the Director General of the Khanfar District: Mazen Al-Yousifi, about the demands of the people whose homes and farms are located in Hassan Dam campus.
The Muharrami representative asked the governor of the governorate and the director general of the Khanfar District for the committee’s report to begin compensating the people whose homes and farms are located in the precincts of the Wadi Hassan Dam.
