When the hour of armed resistance approached, you were the support that pushed the men to the front of the ranks. On the day the world narrowed down to what it welcomed and hearts reached their throats, the women of the South chanted for freedom and ululated for victory, and the loss of a father or father did not faze them. A brother, a husband, or a child in an image that embodied the most wonderful epics of steadfastness, endurance, and redemption.”
