An important meeting of the Aden Authority confronts the crime of smuggling medicines through ill-equipped containers

The Deputy Governor of Aden Governorate, Secretary-General of the Governorate’s Local Council, Mr. Badr Ma’oun, today, Sunday, directed the General Authority for Pharmaceuticals to oblige importing companies and pharmacies to comply with the required conditions for storing medicines in appropriate places that meet the required specifications and standards.
This came while an assistant chaired an important meeting. To monitor the importation of medicines via non-air-conditioned containers, in implementation of the directives of the Vice Chairman of the Presidential Command Council, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi.
The Deputy Governor also directed the security services to take strict measures to prevent the entry of any smuggled medicines through land, air and sea ports into Aden Governorate, except in accordance with licenses and specifications approved by the approved official and competent authorities, and in accordance with the laws and regulations followed in the import of medicines.
The meeting discussed the process of smuggling medicines, and the illegal and legal ways they reach the markets of Aden and neighboring governorates, which endanger the lives of citizens. Due to its violation of international standards and specifications, and the conditions of its transportation and storage; Which exposes it to damage.
In this regard, the Deputy Governor, Executive Director of the Supreme Authority for Medicines, was assigned to oblige all drug importers to adhere to international standards for importing medicines through air-conditioned containers in accordance with established conditions and controls, and after completing all licenses required by the Authority in Aden.
The assistant called on citizens to report any illegal, smuggled or expired medicines to the headquarters of the Supreme Pharmaceutical Authority in Aden.
The meeting included the Executive Director of the Supreme Pharmaceutical Authority, Dr. Abdul Qadir Al-Bakri, the Director-General of the Health Office in Aden, Dr. Ahmed Al-Bishi, the Director-General of the Trade and Industry Office in Aden, Waseem Al-Omari, the Deputy Director-General of the Aden Governorate Police, Brigadier General Abu Bakr Jabr, and the Director of Free Zone Customs, Mohsen. Qahtan.
