Inmates at Sabr Balhaj prison threaten to go on a hunger strike to protest malnutrition

Inmates of the Sabr Balhaj Correctional Facility threatened, on Tuesday, to go on a hunger strike in protest against the malnutrition they are being provided with.
The inmates said that the meals provided to them were insufficient and had no nutritional value to help build the body and resist diseases.
They added that breakfast and dinner consist of two rotis per person, a can of sardines for 6 people, and a few beans for the same number.
The inmates appealed to the Minister of the Interior, the Presidency of the Department, the Governor of the Governorate, and the Director-General of the Governorate Police, to consider the nutritional status of the inmates of the correctional facility and provide adequate, improved and delicious nutrition, similar to what is dealt with in the correctional facility in Aden Governorate.
They pointed out that the operating budget of the correctional facility amounts to 3 million Yemeni riyals, which is insufficient for the requirements for successful work inside the correctional facility, which has inmates of more than 400 individuals, males and females, of all ages.
