The Zakat Authority affiliated with the Houthi militia in Hodeidah Governorate deliberately blackmails those seeking cash assistance from the people of Tihama, in particular the needy and those with medical conditions.

Local sources said that those seeking aid from the people of Tihama were shocked by the procedures imposed by the Houthi Zakat Authority to obtain aid.

The sources described the procedures as complicated and involving lying and evasion by those specializing in disbursing this aid, especially if they are from Tihama, unlike the people requesting it from the mountainous areas who are followers of the militias in Hodeidah.

The sources confirmed that the specialists in this aid do not disburse this aid to the people of Tihama except after accepting a discount of 50% of this aid and 30% for medical cases for the benefit of the Houthi leaders.
