The Aden Chamber of Commerce appeals to save the currency and address the economic conditions

Members of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Businessmen Club, and the Money Exchange Association, in an expanded meeting, today, Tuesday, in the capital, Aden, called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to find a quick solution to the collapse of the value of the local currency.
They confirmed that it decreased to unacceptable levels against foreign currencies, which led to further depletion of citizens’ purchasing power and created more economic difficulties and severe financial, security and behavioral disturbances.
They called for working seriously with the sister coalition countries in order to find solutions to intractable economic and financial issues, and to mobilize funds and grants. To avoid further instability, it has become very necessary for the country to have a sufficient financial deposit that covers the value of the necessary imports of goods, services, and salaries, and what covers the movement of capital abroad.
They urged the completion of a necessary settlement in the structure of wages and salaries for all civil service employees, raising the pensions of retirees, and regular disbursement of wages, salaries and pensions on a monthly basis without delay.
They stressed removing the blockade imposed on the flow of commercial goods, and ensuring the arrival of imported goods to the port of Aden with the aim of improving the movement of private sector imports and reducing the cost.
They proposed forming a body composed of the government, the private sector, civil society, local authorities, and relevant parties to follow up on an emergency plan to save the situation and stop the illegal collections imposed on local factories, companies, and the private sector.
They appealed to the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to save the critical situation, as a result of the thorny accumulations and challenges that are destroying the citizen and his livelihood, which has reached the point of poverty and destitution.
They warned of the need to seek assistance from donors and the coalition to place the security deposit of $50 million, which the government was unable to secure, in order to ensure smooth supply.
They called on all political forces to stop blaming the private sector, which guarantees the provision of food in the country at lower prices than all countries in the region to date.
