His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Zaouri, met in his office this morning with the Director General of the National Malaria Control Program at the Ministry of Public Health and Population, Dr. Yasser Abdullah Bahashim.

During the meeting, the Minister heard from the health official an explanation of the overall activities implemented by the program in all liberated governorates, such as spraying campaigns and other preventive activities to combat malaria, dengue fever, and other fevers.

Minister Al-Zaouri was also briefed on the interventions of civil society institutions in the program, and coordination efforts with the Ministry of Health in order to serve the implementation of the program in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with technical standards in order to serve citizens and protect them from contracting diseases and epidemics.

Minister Al-Zaouri stressed that civil society institutions must coordinate with the competent authorities before commencing their interventions in the program and take technical opinion to ensure the use of designated healthy pesticides that do not cause any harm to the environment or human health.

For his part, the Director General of the Malaria Control Program expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of His Excellency the Minister and his cooperation in facilitating the program’s activities and his invitation to civil society organizations to coordinate with the competent authorities in the Ministry of Health, in order to ensure that interventions are implemented correctly and soundly that serve people and preserve the environment.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Associations and Federations, Muhammad Al-Samati, the Director General of Legal Affairs, Munif Al-Mehrabi, and from the Ministry of Health, the Director of the Office of the Director-General of the Program, Muhammad Awad.
