The Governor of Socotra, Raafat Ali Al-Thaqli, issued a decision banning the entry of “khat” through air and sea ports into the governorate.
The decision came within the framework of efforts aimed at protecting the environment and public health in the governorate, and combating the phenomenon of the spread of qat, which is considered one of the most important social and economic problems in Yemen.
Governor Al-Thaqali directed the security and intelligence services to implement the decision and arrest the suppliers and sellers of “khat” in the governorate.
The decision stressed the need to take the necessary legal measures against violators.
