US Central Command issues a statement regarding new Houthi naval attacks

US Central Command said that Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists are launching several anti-ship ballistic missile attacks in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

On February 6, from approximately 1:45 am to 4:30 pm (local Arab time), Iranian-backed Houthi militants launched six anti-ship ballistic missiles from the areas they control in Yemen towards the southern sea. Red and the Gulf of Aden.
Three anti-ship ballistic missiles were trying to hit the ship MV Star Nassia, a Greek-owned and operated bulk carrier flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, while it was sailing in the Gulf of Aden. At approximately 3:20 a.m., MV Star Nasia reported an explosion near the ship, causing minor damage but no casualties. At 02:00 in the afternoon, another missile fell into the waters near the ship without causing any effect. At 4:30 p.m., the USS Labone (DDG 58), operating near the tanker MV Star, oblivious, intercepted a third anti-ship ballistic missile fired by the Iranian-backed Houthis and was able to shoot it down. The tanker, MV Star, oblivious, continued sailing toward its destination. .
The three remaining anti-ship ballistic missiles were likely trying to target the MV Morning Tide, a UK-owned, Barbados-flagged cargo ship operating in the southern Red Sea. The three missiles fell into the waters near the ship without causing any effect. The MV Morning Tide continues to sail and no injuries or damage have been reported.
