Against the backdrop of the killing of a Houthi leader, 60 citizens were kidnapped and homes were bombed in Ibb

The Houthi militia launched a massive kidnapping campaign that affected dozens of citizens and women in Ibb Governorate, central Yemen, in conjunction with the bombing of homes against the backdrop of the killing of a Houthi leader and 3 of his companions, in clashes with citizens.
Local sources reported that the Houthi militia kidnapped about 60 citizens, including 5 women, in Al-Mashna District, and also blew up the homes of citizens in the region.
The sources confirmed that the stifling Houthi siege continued for the fourth day in a row, on the residents of the two villages, “Al-Masha’ib” and “Al-Wasta” in the Maitam area, southwest of Ibb city, and the water project was cut off from the people as collective punishment.
These violations come after the killing of a Houthi leader and three members, in clashes with tribal militants who confronted a campaign that attempted to kidnap them from their homes in the Maitam area.
The commander of the so-called Rapid Intervention Forces of the Houthi militia, known as “Abu Tariq Al-Nahmi,” was killed along with three of his companions in clashes in Al-Mashna District.
Later, the militias carried out a massive campaign of revenge after killing the citizen Qasim Al-Taweel and his brother and bombing his house.
The Monitoring Organization for Rights and Freedoms condemned the crimes committed by the Houthi militia against civilians in Ibb, describing them as war crimes that require accountability.
The organization said in a statement that these crimes are an integral part of systematic crimes targeting the people of the governorate since the Houthi militia took control of it in the fall of 2014.
The organization indicated that the international community’s negative position and its ignoring of human rights calls calling for it to intervene to save civilians from the oppression of the militia, constituted an implicit cover for the militia leaders to continue their violations against civilians, calling on the international community, the UN envoy, and the Commission for Human Rights to put pressure on the Houthi militia to stop its violations against civilians.
