Under the patronage of His Excellency the President, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Prime Minister, Dr. Maeen Abdul Malik, along with the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Bahibah, and in the presence of Brother Badr, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Governor of the capital, Aden, and Dr. Salem Al-Walidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, inaugurated the emergency national campaign for immunization against the disease. Measles and German measles for children from the age of 6 months to the age of 5 years in all health facilities and locations in Aden from September 23 to 28, 2023 AD, under the title of immunization, health and life. The campaign targets 13 governorates, with the participation of 6,897 health personnel distributed among 3,025 fixed and temporary teams.
At the inauguration, Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik pointed out in the press conference he inaugurated this morning in the capital, Aden, the extreme importance of this emergency national campaign for immunization against measles and rubella in its national and humanitarian dimensions, pointing out that this campaign is one of the important campaigns implemented annually by the Ministry of Public Health and Population with the support of From the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Global Vaccine Alliance at all national levels.
He said, “His Excellency the Prime Minister, we must always think about the future more than we think about the past, and this national action represents one of the tools to care for the future by protecting today’s children from these deadly diseases,” explaining that what distinguishes this campaign is its comprehensiveness in covering all governorates.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of responsible and humanitarian cooperation by all parties in facilitating the work of the campaign and achieving its goals, pointing to its role in protecting what remains of the social fabric of the Yemeni people.
Dr. Maeen Abdul Malik, Prime Minister, expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the leadership, doctors, technicians and employees of the Ministry of Public Health and Population in order to accomplish this national mission despite the difficulties they face and the hardships they endure, wishing them success and success.
The Prime Minister thanked all the media outlets that contributed to covering this activity away from politicization, as it is one of the activities related to the future of the nation.
For his part, the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Bahibah, explained that the emergency national campaign for immunization against measles and rubella, which is being implemented by the Ministry with support and coordination with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Global Vaccine Alliance.
This comes in response to addressing the current epidemiological situation in light of indications of an increase in measles cases.
Minister Bahibah pointed out the importance of everyone’s cooperation in order to make this campaign a success, because the responsibility of keeping Yemen free from measles and rubella through immunization falls on every individual in society.
The Minister of Health called on parents and all citizens to vaccinate their children during the national immunization campaign against diseases because of its importance in immunizing their children and protecting them from permanent disability.
In turn, the representative of the World Health Organization stressed the importance of immunization in increasing children’s immunity against measles and German measles, pointing out that immunization vaccines are safe and have no harm to the child’s health, and that they are subject to the supervision of the World Health Organization from the stage of their production until they reach children in any country or place. In the world.
For his part, the representative of UNICEF said that the emergency national campaign for immunization against measles and rubella represents a decisive step towards protecting a large portion of children and reducing the risk of the spread of these dangerous and deadly diseases in the country. It also forms an important part of Yemen’s ongoing work to protect the entire population and children from epidemics of these diseases, in line with the global plan for the prevention of measles and rubella for children from 6 months to 5 years of age.
