US State Department: Tomorrow, Friday, the classification of the Houthis as a “terrorist group” will be activated.

The US State Department clarified the confusion that occurred yesterday, Wednesday, in the speech of the American delegate to the Security Council regarding activating the classification of the Houthis as a global terrorist group.
The alternate representative for special political affairs in the United States mission to the United Nations, Ambassador Robert Wood, indicated during his speech before the Security Council meeting on Yemen that the implementation of the classification be postponed.
Ambassador Robert Wood said that his country's authorities had postponed "the effectiveness of the classification to consult with stakeholders on reducing the impact that these measures may have on the humanitarian situation."
Today, Thursday, the US State Department published a statement by the official spokesman for the US Mission to the United Nations, Nate Evans, in which he said: To be clear, the designation of the Ansar Allah group, known as the Houthis, as a specially designated global terrorist organization will be effective on February 16.

Noting that the United States announced this classification on January 17, and its confirmation that it will enter into force within 30 days, which will allow ensuring the presence of strong humanitarian cuts to ensure that we target the Houthis without harming the Yemeni people.
Adding that the statements of the Alternative Representative for Special Political Affairs at the US Mission to the United Nations, Robert Wood, which he made at the UN Security Council yesterday, are in line with this timetable.
