A cry from Aden: The gas crisis exacerbates the suffering of citizens and threatens a state of anger

Activists on social media reacted greatly to news of the detention of quantities of Aden gas in the Al-Alam area in Abyan Governorate, accusing merchants in the capital, Aden, of monopolizing this basic material and selling it at high prices.
Posts and photos circulated by activists on their personal pages and social media groups showed a number of gas trailers designated for the capital, Aden, being held in the Al-Alam area, while citizens in Aden suffer from a severe shortage of this basic substance.
Activists accused merchants in the capital, Aden, of preventing the entry of Aden gas into the governorate, and of monopolizing its sale on the black market at high prices that more than tripled the official price.
This crisis is one of many crises facing the capital, Aden, such as power and water outages, and lack of basic services, which exacerbates the suffering of citizens who suffer from difficult economic conditions.
In the face of this popular anger, citizens in Aden called on the local authorities to work to resolve these crises urgently, take strict measures against merchants manipulating the people’s livelihood, and control gas prices and prevent its monopoly.
They also appealed to the Yemeni government and oil companies to increase the quantities of gas allocated to the capital, Aden, and provide it at reasonable prices that meet the needs of citizens.
