Meteorology expected scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity in a number of governorates, and hot to very hot weather in the coastal and desert areas during the next 24 hours.
The National Center of Meteorology said that thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected in parts of the governorates of Shabwa, Abyan, Lahj, Taiz, Al-Dhale’, Ibb, Raymah, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit and the Tihama Plain, and separate areas of the governorates of Dhamar, Sana’a, Amran, and Saada. Hadhramaut Plateau and the southern and western coasts.
It is expected that the weather will be hot to very hot during the day in the deserts and inland plateaus, with maximum temperatures ranging between 37 - 41 degrees Celsius, hot and humid in the coastal areas and plains, and temperatures between 35 - 39, according to the weather forecast.
He indicated the possibility of active to strong winds around the Socotra Archipelago, ranging in speed from 20 to 33 knots, and moderate to active winds on the eastern and southern coasts, ranging in speed from 10 to 20 knots, which would disturb the sea and raise the waves.
The center warned citizens against being in valleys and flood paths, against thunderstorms, using mobile phones, and against low horizontal visibility during rainfall.
He advised against direct exposure to sunlight for a long period in areas that will witness high temperatures.
He also warned fishermen, ship captains and seafarers of sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra Archipelago and the southern and eastern coasts.
