Recruiting tens of thousands...Mayon Organization reveals a dangerous phase of Houthi violations of children's rights

Mayon Organization for Human Rights revealed today, Friday, that the Houthi militias have recruited tens of thousands of children into their open camps since last October.
The organization said in a series of tweets on its Twitter account that dozens of child recruits presented a military parade in front of the leader of the Houthi militia, Mohammed al-Houthi, at the conclusion of open military courses held for them by the Iranian-backed militias in training camps in the Sahar region of Saada Governorate.
She added that since the beginning of 2024, the Houthi militias have summoned thousands of children participating in summer centers for the year 2023 in the areas under their control as reserve forces who are being re-educated militarily to ensure their readiness to fight.
She pointed out that the Houthi militias have included - since last October - tens of thousands of children as soldiers in their ranks following their graduation in what it calls “open courses” within military training camps located within areas under their control, noting the establishment of military training centers for school children in all districts in the governorates. Under the authority of the militia.
The organization stressed that “this blatant violation of children’s rights in Yemen is a new and dangerous stage of violations that undermines all international efforts over the past years aimed at stopping the recruitment of children in Yemen.”
