European Union spokesman, Luis Miguel Bueno, confirmed that the European operation in the Red Sea is defensive and aims to work to secure navigation in the region.

He revealed in media statements that the operation was the culmination of the efforts of 4 European countries, at the request of shipping companies, denying the existence of any coordination with the Iranian-backed Houthi militia regarding securing European ships in the Red Sea.
