FAO targets 120 farmers of Asilan District

Under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqatri, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, and Dr. Hussein Jadin, Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and within the activities of the Response Project to Strengthen Food Security and Resilience in Yemen, funded by the World Bank Group and under the supervision of the Shabwa Agriculture and Irrigation Office The General Organization for the Multiplication of Improved Seeds implemented the field day for the wheat crop (Hadhramaut 3) in the Usaylan District.
The project targeted a number of farmers in the Usaylan District in the Khalidiya and Al-Saha areas to whom improved seeds were distributed by the General Organization for the Multiplication of Improved Seeds.

During the event, the Director General of the General Corporation for the Multiplication of Improved Seeds expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Bank Group, the Governor of Shabwa Governorate, Awad Muhammad bin Al-Wazir, and the Director General of the Office of Agriculture and Irrigation for their efforts and interest in supporting and developing The agricultural aspect.
In his speech, which was delivered on his behalf by the Director of Agricultural Extension, the Director General of the Seed Multiplication Foundation confirmed that 120 farmers were targeted by the FAO as part of the Food Security and Resilience Response Project in Yemen.
During the field day event, the director of agriculture in the district, Hussein Talan, praised the role played by the General Organization for Improved Seed Multiplication by providing seeds and implementing the field day for the wheat crop, expressing his thanks, on behalf of the district’s farmers, to all parties that contributed to the implementation of the project.
While Muhammad Al-Madah, Director of Agricultural Extension for the three Beihan districts, provided an explanation about agricultural operations, how to select seeds, preserve local and improved seeds, the quantity of seeds per hectare, productivity, and the process of storing seeds.
Al-Madah urged farmers to cooperate and supply their seeds to the seed bank when Al-Hasad, noting the need to develop the bank by expanding its activity to all Bayhan districts in the future.
