Saudi security authorities announced the arrest of 22 Yemenis who were able to enter the Kingdom in possession of quantities of the qat plant.

A statement by the Saudi authorities said that border guard ground patrols in the Al-Arda sector in the Jazan region arrested 22 border security violators of Yemeni nationality, for smuggling 440 kilograms of the narcotic khat plant.

The statement confirmed that the initial legal procedures against them had been completed, and that they and the seized items had been handed over to the competent authority.

It called on the security authorities to report all available information to citizens and residents about any activities related to drug smuggling or drug promotion.
