In cooperation with the Egyptian side, a government plan to establish a consumer protection agency

The representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Director General of Consumer Protection, Promotion of Competition and Prevention of Monopoly, Fadl Sweileh, met in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the Director of the Economic Integration Department at the Secretariat of the Arab League, Dr. Ahmed Nizar Jamil.
The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation and joint coordination and contributing to the establishment of a consumer protection agency similar to the Egyptian agency, which was sponsored by an international organization, in addition to capacity building and training members of the Yemeni consumer protection agency.
The meeting comes based on an assignment from the Minister of Industry and Trade to follow up on the outcomes of his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Engineer Ahmed Samir Saleh, which was held in Cairo in August 2023 on the sidelines of the meetings of the Economic and Social Council in its 112th regular session.
In a related development, the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Director General of Consumer Protection, Promotion of Competition and Prevention of Monopoly, Fadel Sweileh, met with the Director of Legal Affairs at the Egyptian Authority, Dr. Mustafa Abdel Sattar.
The meeting discussed the exchange of experiences and documents related to the establishment of the Consumer Protection Agency and access to their experiences in protecting the consumer from risks that affect his health and safety.
The representative of the Ministry of Industry, Sweileh, listened to a comprehensive explanation about the work of the Consumer Protection Agency, how it communicates directly online with companies and commercial institutions, and their attendance at the agency if they commit any commercial violation.
