The Pentagon reveals a surprising Saudi position regarding the Houthis

The US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has categorically rejected an American request related to the Houthi militias in Yemen.
The ministry explained that Saudi Arabia categorically refused to use its airspace to strike Houthi sites in Yemen.
Earlier, the American newspaper Al-Monitor said that the administration of US President Joe Biden is seeking support from the Gulf states, in an attempt to stop “Houthi attacks” on commercial maritime shipping.
The newspaper added that Saudi Arabia prevented the US army from launching strikes on the Houthis in Yemen from bases in Saudi territory, leaving a US Navy aircraft carrier to bear responsibility for the campaign in the Red Sea.
The Gulf states and Arab states, except for Bahrain, refused to participate in the coalition formed by the United States last December under the name “Guardian of Prosperity” to protect ships targeted by the Houthis in the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia had previously expressed its concern about the American-British strikes on the Yemeni governorates that began at dawn on January 12, and its concern about the tensions in the Red Sea
