Lamlas reviews with the Director of UNESCO the latest developments in the project to rehabilitate and maintain buildings and archaeological sites

The Minister of State and Governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, received today, Sunday, in his office in the governorate’s general office, Mr. Nuno Olvera, Director of the UNESCO Project in Yemen.
The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Governor Salah Al-Aqel, Director General of Sirah District Mahmoud Bin Jaradi, and Advisor to the Governor for International Organization Affairs Reda Hajib, reviewed the latest developments in the project to rehabilitate and maintain buildings and archaeological and historical sites in Sirah District, which is being implemented by UNESCO with funding from the European Union. .
Lamlas stressed the importance of the project performing its appropriate function in preserving the privacy of archaeological and historical places and sites, reiterating the readiness of the local authority to provide all facilities, and to overcome any difficulties obstructing the progress of work, in a way that preserves the city of Aden’s historical architectural pattern and style.
The meeting touched on a number of issues and projects, and possible ways to find sufficient funding for them, and develop mechanisms and work programs that meet aspirations, including working to include the city of Crater to the list of historical cities, and rehabilitating and maintaining the National Museum (Sultan’s Palace), the Military Museum and the Municipal Market. And the implementation of the strategic project, which includes repairing the flow of floods from the seven dams to the sea, in addition to the appropriate mechanism for dealing with and protecting archaeological and historical sites and buildings from encroachment and encroachment on them, the presence of displaced persons, and other violations that require intervention and treatment in accordance with law and order.
