The Aden Criminal Court issues sentences against defendants in cases of participation in a Houthi armed gang and drug cases

The Specialized Criminal Court in the temporary capital, Aden, held its session under the chairmanship of Judge Yahya Al-Saadi and in the presence of a member of the Specialized Criminal Prosecution, Judge Hadeel Al-Sayyid. During the session, the court issued rulings ruling the imprisonment of a number of defendants in cases of trafficking and drug possession, as follows:-
First: The defendants in Case No. (81) of 1444 AH were convicted of what was attributed to them in the indictment, namely:
- Convicting the accused (Y, H, M), the accused (A, A, A), the accused (M, A, A), and the accused (S, J), and punishing each of them with imprisonment for a period of ten years, with the obligation of the first accused (Y, H, M) by paying an amount of (seventy-three thousand and nine hundred riyals) as treatment costs.
- The defendant (M, A, M, H) was convicted of two years’ imprisonment for committing the crime of joining and participating in an armed gang, and for documenting, photographing and monitoring all security events and terrorist operations that threatened security in Aden during the recent period.
Second: The accused (W, M, M) in Case No. (40) of the year 1444 AH and the accused (M, S, A, H) in Case No. (31) of the year 1444 AH were convicted of five years’ imprisonment for committing the crime of possession of narcotic substances. Confiscating and destroying seized items.
These provisions come in order to protect society from those criminal acts that are harmful to the public interest, in order to achieve public and private deterrence.
