A training course to combat the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons was concluded today in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the participation of 43 cadres representing the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the Customs Service in our country.
The course was held with the support of the European Union, and in cooperation and partnership between the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Yemen to the League of Arab States, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), the World Customs Organization, and the Arms Control and Disarmament Department in the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
The week-long course aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants in the field of combating the smuggling and sale of illicit small arms, and to assist Arab countries in building their capabilities to combat smuggling and illicit arms trafficking.
The Permanent Representative of Yemen to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Riyad Al-Akbari, and the Ambassador of Yemen to the sisterly Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Riyad Faqira, stressed the importance of the course in developing the capabilities of the participants in the field of combating arms smuggling... calling on the participants to benefit from the course and apply its outcomes at the level of practical reality to advance The level of work... praising the entities supporting and organizing the course and the King Abdullah II Center for Special Operations Training for hosting the training course.
The conclusion of the course was attended by the Director General of the King Abdullah II Center for Special Operations Training, Colonel Nael Al-Shuqairat, and a number of representatives of the bodies organizing and supporting the holding of the course.
