Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji, Head of the Assistant Political Body of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, received, yesterday, Wednesday, in his office in the capital, Aden, Mr. Edward Jackson, Director of the Office of the United Nations Envoy in the capital, Aden, Mr. Bert Scott, employee of the Political Department, and Ms. Tamani. Ahmed Obaid, employee of the political department.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khobaji welcomed Mr. Edward Jackson and his team, stressing that their efforts towards reviving the political process reflect the United Nations’ keenness to find real solutions to the crisis in our country.
Al-Khobaji heard from the Director of the UN Envoy’s Office a brief explanation of the content of the meetings held by the Envoy with the political parties, the latest developments related to the peace process, and the efforts being made by the United Nations and regional and international parties in this aspect.
The meeting touched on a number of issues related to the political process, the proposals submitted by the envoy’s office regarding the file of mechanisms for ceasefire and military escalation, and the levels included in the proposals.
The meeting referred to the ideas that the UN envoy is working on with the political forces and parties, which include a number of tracks, the forefront of which are the tracks of the economic and political files.
Al-Khobaji reiterated the necessity of the presence of the southern issue in all stages of the political process, starting with the ceasefire stage and the subsequent stages, within its own negotiating framework approved by the Riyadh consultations, as well as the rapid formation of the joint negotiating delegation to assume responsibility for managing the negotiating process.
The meeting was attended by Mazen Al-Radfani, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Political Body, and Wahib Hassan, Director of Public Relations for the Political Body.
