US Army: Al-Houthi fired two ballistic missiles towards the merchant ship Pinocchio

A British maritime authority said on Tuesday that it had received a report of an accident 600 nautical miles east of Mogadishu, Somalia, and that authorities were investigating.
The authority added in a statement on its official account on the X platform that the authorities are investigating the report. The authority called on ships to sail with caution and to inform them of any suspicious activity.
British maritime security company Ambrey said separately that a cargo tanker flying the Bangladeshi flag had been boarded by people east of Somalia.
She added in a statement: “We advise commercial ships to stay away from this location as this is assessed as an ongoing incident as the perpetrators attempt to take control of the bulk cargo ship.”
Earlier today, the US military confirmed that the Houthis targeted an American ship in the Red Sea, but the US Central Command indicated that the ship "Pinocchio", which it described as a commercial ship, was not harmed.
The US Central Command said in a statement that it had also not received any damage to the ship. She said that the Houthis fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles towards "Pinocchio".
It added that yesterday it carried out 6 strikes that destroyed a naval boat and 18 anti-ship missiles in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.
She added that “those weapons represented an imminent threat to commercial ships and US Navy ships in the region,” adding that “these measures are being taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer for the US Navy and commercial ships.”
Before that, the military spokesman for the Yemeni Houthi group, Yahya Saree, announced that the pro-Iranian group targeted what it said was “the American ship Pinocchio” in the Red Sea.
Public databases managed by Equisys and the United Nations International Maritime Organization indicate that “Pinocchio” is a Liberian-flagged container ship owned by OM-MAR 5, registered in Singapore.
Sari said in the speech broadcast on television: “The Yemeni armed forces confirm that their military operations will escalate with the help of God Almighty during the month of Ramadan, the month of jihad, in victory, support and support for the oppressed Palestinian people and for our mujahideen brothers in the Gaza Strip.”
Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have disrupted global shipping, forced companies to reroute to take longer, more expensive voyages around South Africa, and raised fears that the war between Israel and Hamas could expand, destabilizing the Middle East.
A spokesman for the internationally recognized Yemeni government told Reuters that at least 11 people were killed and 14 others were injured after air strikes, attributed to the US-British coalition, hit coastal cities and small towns in western Yemen yesterday, Monday.
The United States and Britain launch strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, and reclassify the movement as a terrorist group.
