The Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Abdul Rahman Abu Zaraa Al-Muharami, yesterday asked Prime Minister Maeen Abdul Malik to provide him with the report of the Academic Committee to review scholarship policies and the files of scholarship beneficiaries.
This came in a telegram sent by Al-Muharrami to Abdul-Malik, in which he stressed the need to quickly submit the report and take the necessary measures regarding the violations that may have been committed in this file.
Last August, the government approved the formation of an academic committee to review scholarship policies and the files of scholarship beneficiaries, following the leak of official documents confirming that children of government officials, influential political, military, and media figures, and their relatives, acquired scholarships abroad.
Al-Muharrami’s request from the government to provide him with the academic committee’s report is an important step in the process of reforming the scholarship file in Yemen. This file is considered one of the thorny files in Yemen, as it has witnessed many violations and abuses over the past years.
