The Civil Council of Ataq clarifies the circumstances of the call for demonstrations due to water shortages

The Civil Council of Ataq in Shabwa Governorate issued an explanatory statement regarding the invitation of some residents to demonstrate in front of the governor’s house due to the water shortage in the city.

Brothers, sons of the city of Ataq, may God bless you. As for what follows, we, in the presidency of the Civil Council of the city of Ataq, denounce and denounce what some of our fellow residents did by calling for a demonstration and gathering in front of the governor’s house for the purpose of providing water to the city, which was exploited by other parties for the purpose of destabilizing security and distorting The role of the local authority in the governorate is represented by the governor of the governorate and head of the local council, Sheikh Awad Muhammad bin Al-Wazir Al-Awlaki, who was responsive to us in solving the problems of the lack of water in the city, as he assigned the governor’s agent, Dr. Abdel-Qawi Lamrouq, the director of legal affairs in the governorate, followed up with the Water Corporation to find radical solutions to the Al-Awsha water project and complete the stalled projects. The committee went to Al-Awsha with the follow-up and continuous supervision of the governor. Then he personally went to the Water Corporation to follow up on pumping water to the city on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, and give directions. Frankly speaking to the brother, director of the Water Corporation, to complete the repair of the faults in the emergency line, which impede the delivery of water to the city, the Old Quarter and the Western District, and it was agreed that they had notice of pumping for lines 1-2 on the night of the demonstration, and water was pumped into the city.
This is what must be made clear to the people of the city, and we call on our fellow citizens to refrain from any calls for demonstrations in the future. This is in the interest of everyone. We, the Parent Council, as an administrative body, will continue to follow up on the city’s service projects that are in the interest of the people of the city, through official means and far from creating problems that harm security and stability in the city.
