The US Army Central Command announced yesterday, Friday, the seizure of hundreds of kilograms of the narcotic drugs heroin and hashish in the Arabian Sea.
Central Command published, on its official Facebook page, two pictures of the operation, and said in its statement: “The British warship Lancaster, which is currently supporting the French-led Joint Task Force 150, has seized about 450 kg of heroin and hashish in the Arabian Sea, where The value of the seized drugs is estimated at more than $9.5 million.
The command added, “The joint naval forces, consisting of 38 countries and based in Bahrain, are committed to working to stop all criminal and terrorist activities by ensuring freedom of navigation and working to arrest outlaws.”
On April 21, a US Navy destroyer intercepted a new shipment of illicit drugs smuggled via Iranians on a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Oman.
The US Navy said, in a statement, that the naval destroyer equipped with guided missiles intercepted a fishing vessel that was trying to smuggle $42 million worth of illegal drugs while crossing the Gulf of Oman, on April 21.
Iran adopts the drug trade as one of the means of support for its militias outside its borders, in addition to the policy of flooding communities with drugs, as it does in Yemen through its arm, the terrorist Houthi militia.
