The US Treasury imposes sanctions on a shipping company for supporting the Houthi militia

The US Treasury has issued new sanctions against the shipping company Vishnu Inc, registered in the Marshall Islands, and its ship LADY SOFIA, for their involvement in transporting shipments of illicit goods to China; These shipments were supporting the Iranian Quds Force and the Houthis' financial facilitator, Saeed al-Jamal, who appears on the US sanctions list.
The sanctions aim to combat terrorist financing and disrupt commercial activity that benefits the Quds Force and the Houthis, and which contributes to continued attacks on vital sea shipping lanes.
Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian E. Nelson stressed the United States' commitment to disrupting attempts to evade sanctions and targeting sources of financing that threaten international security and trade.
The sanctions include blocking all property and interests in the United States related to the blocked entities, and prohibiting transactions involving their property.
Financial institutions and persons who engage in transactions with prohibited entities may also be subject to sanctions or enforcement actions.
