Dr. Al-Khobaji discusses the latest developments in the political situation with the Acting Director of the Office of the UN Envoy in Aden

Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji, Head of the Assistant Political Body of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, received today, Tuesday, Mr. Bert Scott, Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, Acting Director of the Office of the United Nations Envoy in the capital, Aden.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khobaji welcomed Mr. Scott and his team, appreciating all the efforts made by the UN envoy towards reviving the political process, listening to a detailed explanation of the latest meetings held by the envoy’s office with the political parties.
Al-Khobaji was briefed by Mr. Scott on the most prominent developments related to the peace process, the efforts being made by the United Nations and regional and international parties in this regard, and the repercussions of the Houthi militia’s escalation in maritime shipping lanes, which targets global trade.
The meeting discussed a number of important issues and files related to the political process, and recent developments regarding the unilateral measures of the Houthi militia to open roads in Al-Dhalea Governorate, and the United Nations’ relationship with such developments.
Al-Khobaji expressed the Southern Transitional Council’s renewed support for all the envoy’s efforts aimed at bringing peace and normalizing people’s lives, calling for a greater effort in coordination, and presenting visions and proposals for solutions that accommodate developments in the reality that has taken shape on the ground.
The head of the political body auxiliary to the presidential body of the Transitional Council stressed the importance of UN and international attendance and supervision of the mechanism of procedures aimed at opening the main and secondary roads in the southern governorates, expressing the necessity of finding a real international guarantee in this.
