New phenomena of theft of homes and citizens’ backyards during Ramadan in Lahj

The phenomenon of theft increased during the holy month of Ramadan in Taban District.
A number of citizens said that this phenomenon has recently worsened to include homes and private yards, and the theft of dynamos and water meters.
A number of residents of the Sabr area in Taban District reported that during the past two days, two people were arrested for stealing water meters from behind their homes in the morning during the days of the month of Ramadan, while the streets were empty of passers-by.
The residents explained that there were other theft phenomena that the area had witnessed, as they discovered that some of their things had been stolen from the courtyards of their homes.
The people demanded the necessity of tracking down these thieves who seize opportunities to carry out their operations in ways that no one would think of. Therefore, they should be followed up, arrested, and legal measures should be taken against them.
Some said that the phenomenon of theft has worsened recently due to hunger and poverty that has spread among people.
Others said that this is a dangerous scourge on society, and those who commit it suffer from deteriorating living conditions and a lack of financial resources, and they resort to theft to satisfy their personal desires.
