The World Bank announces the cessation of all project financing in Yemen due to government corruption

The World Bank, one of the most prominent international donors to Yemen, announced the cessation of all forms of financing and support for construction and infrastructure projects implemented through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in the country.
This decision - according to what was reported by Al-Hadath TV - came due to the failure of leadership and management in the organization and its lack of commitment to the recommendations of the World Bank.
The decision indicates that the World Bank has serious concerns about FAO’s ability to manage construction and infrastructure projects in Yemen efficiently and effectively.
It is noteworthy that Yemen has been suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis since the start of the Houthi war in 2014, with the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance estimated at 23.4 million people, or about 80% of the population.
Construction and infrastructure projects are essential to improving the lives of Yemenis and providing basic services such as water, electricity, and sanitation.
