The Central Bank of Sanaa officially announces the issuance of a “new metal” currency

The governor of the Central Bank, which is controlled by the Houthi militias in the kidnapped capital, Sanaa, announced its issuance today to solve the problem of damaged currency.

The Governor of the Houthi Bank announced, in a press conference this afternoon, Saturday, the issuance of a 100 riyal coin “in the context of confronting the problem of damaged currency.”
He said that "the coins were minted according to the latest international standards." According to his claim.
He also claimed that “the introduction of the new coin will not affect the exchange rates as it is a replacement for the damaged one,” noting that circulation of the 100 riyal coin begins tomorrow, Sunday.
On Thursday, the Central Bank of Yemen in the temporary capital, Aden, warned all citizens, financial and banking institutions, and commercial sectors against dealing or accepting the counterfeit currency that the branch of the Central Bank in Sanaa, which is under the control of the Houthi militia, intends to deploy illegally.
