Masam: 2,374 Houthi mines and unexploded ordnance were removed during March

The Saudi “Masam” project to clear Yemeni lands revealed, in a statement on Sunday, March 31, 2024, the total quantities of mines and explosive devices that were removed during the month of March, and which the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia had planted in several Yemeni regions. While large quantities of Houthi mines are still piled up on the ground, on roads, on civilian farms, and near service facilities.
The Masam Project announced, in its statement, that its demining teams removed 2,374 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices from March 2, 2024, until the 29th of the same month, including 2,029 unexploded ordnance, 330 anti-tank mines, and 9 Anti-personnel mines and 6 explosive devices, and they cleared 215,068 square meters of Yemeni territory during the same period.
The Masam Project Operations Room said, in a statement, that teams removed 513 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices last week (in the period March 23-29), including one anti-personnel mine, 86 anti-tank mines, and 420 unexploded ordnance. And 6 explosive devices, and during the same week, the teams cleared 2,810 square meters of Yemeni territory.
During the third week of March, specifically in the period (March 16 - 22, 2024), the teams were able to remove 629 lethal objects, including 105 anti-tank mines, 520 unexploded ordnance, and 4 anti-personnel mines, and during the same week they removed By clearing 3,845 square meters of Yemeni land.
In the second week of March, in the period (March 9 - 15), the teams cleared 658 landmines and unexploded ordnance, including 85 anti-tank mines and 573 unexploded ordnance. During the same week, they cleared 3,520 square meters of Yemeni territory. In the first week, specifically in the period (March 2 - 8), the teams cleared 574 landmines and unexploded ordnance, including four anti-personnel mines, 54 anti-tank mines and 516 unexploded ordnance, during which they were able to clear 204,893 square metres.
In the total outcome, Masam Project announced the neutralization and destruction of 436,376 explosive devices in the liberated Yemeni areas, including 6,494 anti-personnel mines, 143,951 anti-tank mines, 277,920 unexploded ordnance, and 8,011 improvised explosive devices. It has been neutralized on an area of 55,390,882 square meters of land since mid-2018.
