The European Union expresses its concern about the Houthi militias issuing counterfeit currency

The European Union expressed its deep concern about the decision of the terrorist Houthi militia to issue a 100 Yemeni riyal coin, which led to an escalation in the economic field.
A statement issued by the European Union mission in Yemen on the X platform said that unilateral decisions that lead to the risk of deepening the division of the Yemeni economy and undermining the banking sector and the country’s compliance with international standards for combating money laundering and terrorist financing do not serve the cause of peace and prosperity for Yemenis.
The European Union mission called for constructive engagement with the peace efforts led by the United Nations, which envisage holding negotiations on pivotal economic issues as the only way forward, stressing the European Union’s support for the role of the Central Bank of Yemen in maintaining the stability of the financial sector
