America: The Houthis planted two million mines in Yemen, and removing them will take 8 years

On Thursday, the United States of America accused the Houthi group of planting two million mines in Yemen, which will take 8 years to remove.
This came in a post by the US Embassy in Yemen on the X platform, coinciding with the International Day for Mine Awareness.
This coincided with the announcement by the Yemeni Landmine Monitor (non-governmental), that 41 civilians had been killed by mine explosions in various areas of the country since the beginning of 2024.
The embassy said, “The terrorist Houthi militias planted more than (two million) mines in Yemen, turning the country into the largest minefield ever.”
She indicated that “it will take 8 years to completely remove it.”
She added: "It is time for the Houthis to stop using the homeland (Yemen) as a weapon of war, and start working for a peaceful future for all Yemenis."
It considered all efforts made to remove mines in Yemen a step towards peace.
There was no comment from the Houthi group regarding Washington's accusations against it until 21:00 GMT.
Last July, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned that unexploded remnants (mines) threaten millions of Yemenis.
According to previous statements by Yemeni officials, the number of mines planted in the country since the start of the war has exceeded about two million mines.
