Yemenia Airlines announced today, Monday, the strengthening of its fleet with a new Airbus A320 aircraft, named “Donkeys.”
The company explained that the new aircraft will enter service soon, after completing registration and technical inspection procedures, and delivering it to the capital, Aden.
This comes after the Houthis hacked one of the company's planes yesterday, and prevented it from leaving Sana'a airport.
The company said that the new aircraft will contribute to enhancing its air services and providing more flights between various Yemeni cities.
Reinforcing the Yemeni Airlines fleet with a new aircraft is a positive step, aiming to improve the company’s services and provide more flights for passengers. The Houthi piracy of one of the company’s planes is a new provocative step by the group, and evidence of its lack of commitment to the path of peace.
The company called on the responsible authorities to intervene immediately to stop the Houthis’ piracy of its aircraft, and to return the amounts belonging to the company, estimated at $80 million, which the Houthis seized in Sana’a banks.
